PMM Files #174 - Change Positioning with the Times, Show, Don't Tell and Three Words, Three Benefits

Read Time: 3.8 minutes

Thanks for reading PMM Files. A newsletter where we share five cool product marketing examples we found last week.

Let's get to it...

Join the next Foundry cohort

The PMM Foundry is a group coaching program for founding and solo PMMs. Each 12-week cohort gives you expert guidance, peer support, and proven frameworks to help you build your function with confidence.

Example #1 - Change Positioning with the Times

This is a good example of adapting your positioning to market and competitive changes.

Bubble was an OG no-code app builder before vibe coding. They made building apps easy. Now, the space is crowded with vibe coding tools.

Their positioning? "Build apps, not prototypes".

It addresses the perception that vibe coding tools are great for building apps that look cool, but actually can't scale. A big differentiator for Bubble.

Example #2 - Show, Don't Tell

Delphi's doing something unique in their hero. They put real customer examples, right up front.

For a product like theirs, it's a smart play. Anyone considering Delphi wants to see how it works and whether the outputs can be trusted.

Land on the homepage and you see faces you recognize, Guy Kawasaki, Keith Rabois, Ben Greenfield, Lenny Rachitsky. Hover over one, ask a question and see the output live.

Example #3 - Three Words, Three Benefits

Armada builds mobile data centers, letting companies run AI infrastructure in remote or disconnected places. Describing the benefits of this product can be super complex, but they keep it simple.

Three words, three benefits. That's all it takes:

  • Speed
  • Scale
  • Sovereignty

Every word is backed up by a clear explanation that gets to the point. There's even proof to back it up.

Example #4 - A Logo Bar that Moves You

This logo bar does more than flex big names. It organizes them by industry.

Rotating logos of companies using Moveworks, organized so buyers can quickly find customers who look just like them.

Sales teams get this request constantly from prospects, and this simple website feature addresses it head on.

→ See Moveworks' homepage

Example #5 - Let Customers Do the Convincing

OpenAI's business page actually leads with customer stories and case studies, not the product.

Everyone knows what ChatGPT is, but the question that matters for enterprises is how companies like them are using it.

The Coaching Program for Building Your PMM Function and Career

The PMM Foundry is a group coaching program for founding and solo PMMs.

Those of you doing it on your own, without a mentor, a peer group, or indication that you're β€œdoing things right.”

It’s not another course, or a series of packed webinars.

This is an intimate, 12-week cohort where you and 5-7 other PMMs will go deep on building your product marketing function, establishing core frameworks and processes, and handling the challenges that come with it.

After 12 weeks, you’ll leave with a better understanding of the product marketing function, plus templates and frameworks you’ll feel confident using.

More importantly, you’ll have a safe space to get feedback, workshop ideas, validate your thinking, and connect with other like-minded PMMs in the same situation as you.

The next cohort kicks off the week of September 7th. It’s intentionally kept to a small number of members (5-8), so apply now to secure your spot.
