PMM Files #138 – Making the Switch Easy, Templates That Sell, and Posts That Build Pipeline

Read Time: 3.8 minutes

Thanks for reading PMM Files. A newsletter where we share five cool product marketing examples we found last week.

Let's get to it...

Supported By: The PMM Jetpack

What's the #1 Challenge for PMMs?

Lack of resources β€” time, budget, team.

The PMM Jetpack delivers real playbooks, templates, and examples to level up your work, no matter what you’re working with.

Example #1 - Prove Your Before and After

Heynds nails this before-and-after section on their homepage.

The "old" way of getting your thoughts on paper is slow and frustrating. The "new" way is simple and 3x faster. Just speak and get polished text in any app.

They even back it up with a Stanford Study comparing words per minute (WPM) on writing vs speaking. Spoiler alert: Voice is 3x faster.

→ This before and after speaks volumes

Example #2 - Make the Switch Seem Easy

Here's a great example of a "Switch" page. A type of comparison page aimed at prospects looking to move off a competitors' product.

Podia knows that for a creator, the fear of switching often trumps the pain of sticking with an incumbent. So they created this page to help reduce that fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD).

Not only do they make their positioning clear, but they focus a lot on making the migration feel easy. They break it down step-by-step and even offer a free service to help customers migrate.

Example #3 - Templates That Sell

Clay runs a masterclass in buyer and customer enablement, with their introduction of Claybooks.

Instead of letting new users wander through a powerful but intimidating tool, they hand you ready-made playbooks.

Prospects get instant clarity on how they could use Clay and where it fits in their stack. The learning curve drops and time to value gets a lot shorter.

→ Can you create templates like this?

Example #4 - The Cutest β€˜How It Works’ on the Internet

Ko-fi built a β€œHow it Works” page that feels like a hug for creators who just want to get paid.

It's clear, to-the-point, and walks you through the product in the simplest way possible:

  • Create your page
  • Connect payments
  • Make it yours
  • Share it
  • Add more ways to earn

Each step gets a tiny animation that just clicks. No fluff, unless you count their adorable animated characters.

Example #5 - Posts that Build Pipe

Most companies only talk about their product when something new launches.

Laura from Dreamdata takes the opposite approach. She tells a relatable story with a clear point of view, and her product as the backdrop.

You see what Dreamdata does in a practical way, while Laura breaks down why it matters.

If you want to generate more awareness around your product, do what Laura does. Make your product part of your everyday storytelling, not just launch announcements.

→ More companies should be doing this!

Never Start From Scratch Again

Product marketers like Sharon use the PMM Jetpack to skip the hard parts of building a PMM function from the ground up.

In a day, she was able to launch a complete internal app to manage and share her enablement content. It not only "wowed" her sales and CS teams β€” but her executive team too!

And that's only one of the dozens of templates that will help you build and automate parts of your product marketing function.

Stop staring at a blank page. Get every resource you need for your next launch, campaign, messaging project, and more.
